Our Head Office is the heartbeat of our brands and we have a rare opening within our in house Tax Team for an Employment Tax professional to join us and further develop their Tax knowledge within a team of Tax professionals.


This is a fantastic opportunity for a Tax Assistant Manager to join us on a permanent basis. In this role you will own and deliver M&B’s employment tax compliance and reporting obligations, alongside supporting the wider business with employment tax advice, including liaison with external advisors as necessary.


In this varied role, you will also liaise with HMRC in respect of employment tax compliance reviews, and assist the Group Tax Manager and Tax Manager with VAT and Corporation Tax compliance and reporting. We are looking for a proactive individual who has an appetite to work across a range of areas within taxation to further develop their technical skills.


In this Office Flexible role, you will be based at our vibrant Head Office in the heart of Birmingham City Centre. What will I be doing?

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare the PAYE Settlement Agreement (PSA) calculations and returns for review by the Group Tax Manager and onward submission to HMRC
  • Provide support to the payroll/HR team with annual P11d reporting, reporting of benefits post-retirement, salary sacrifice/optional remuneration considerations and treatment of termination payments
  • Completion of annual Short Term Business Visitor reporting
  • Completion and submission of the quarterly Foreign Entertainers Return
  • Completion and submission of the annual Entertainers Return if required
  • Support with the assessment of the IR35 status of off-payroll workers
  • Support to property team with obligations under the Construction Industry Scheme
  • To work under the supervision of the Tax Manager to provide support in all areas of corporation tax compliance and reporting
  • To work under the supervision of the Tax Manager to provide support in all areas of VAT compliance and reporting

Qualifications

  • ATT qualification
  • CTA qualified/part-qualified desirable
  • Experience in a national accounting practice and/or industry with demonstrated experience of working with employment/payroll taxes
  • Experience of working with Corporation tax and/or VAT will be advantageous
