Finance Graduate Scheme 2025
Hello! We’re Mitchells & Butlers – we’re a big player in the UK hospitality game. Throughout the UK we have over 1,750 vibrant pubs, restaurants and bars across 18 successful and varied brands. You may have never heard of us before but we’re sure you’ve heard of a few of our brands, like All Bar One, Miller & Carter and Toby Carvery.
We set the industry standard when it comes to delivering excellent guest service and great food & drink, but none of this would be possible without our amazing people and our Finance team are an important ingredient to our success.
Finance may not be the first thing you think of when we say Hospitality, but our financial management is as important as a perfectly poured pint. The impacts you can have with the Finance function are wide ranging. Ensuring our business stability and growth, enabling us to keep welcoming guest through our doors for years to come.
So what are we looking for from our Finance graduates?
Our scheme, and our industry needs ambitious graduates with a thirst for knowledge, and bags of drive and determination. We won’t lie, our scheme is hard work at times but it’s so rewarding. If you’re made of the right stuff you’ll smash it and go on to do great things with us.

Finance Graduate scheme Overview
Our 3 year scheme is varied and designed to develop you into a rounded Finance professional with a comprehensive understanding of M&B, looking beyond the numbers to keep our business financially sound. We support you through a professional accounting qualification of your choice (CIMA or ACCA) and placements supporting brand aligned Finance teams, Pricing, Financial Accounts, Property, Procurement and Guest Insights.
We will make sure you get there by…
- Pub, Bar or Restaurant placements (Weeks 2 to 3)
- Various short placements throughout the M&B Finance function (Month 2 to 12)
- End of year review (Months 13)
- Placements within the wider organisation and further Finance function placements (Month 13 to 25)
- End of year review (Month 26)
- Further placements within the Finance functions tailored to your interests (Month 26 to 36)
You will be really well supported by a great team of people on your journey with us - your line manager, placement manager, and a graduate buddy from our community of graduates across the business.
And there is more…. to ensure you’re on the right trajectory you will also benefit from development workshops throughout the scheme, focused on enhancing your skill set and developing your leadership capabilities.

- You’ll have to have or be on track to achieve at least a 2:1 degree
- Have achieved ABB grades at A level or above (equivalent BTEC grades)
- As this role is mainly based at our Birmingham Head Office, you’ll need to live within a commutable distance

1. Video interview where we’ll get to know a bit about you, and if you impress us here, we’ll invite you to complete Verbal & Numerical Testing (from the comfort of your own home)
2. Face-to-face interview and group assessments at our Retail Support Centre in Birmingham – where you’ll also get the chance to know more about us (should you progress after video interview)
3. Final stage senior management interview (should you progress after Face-to-face assessment)
And if you’re successful – you can look forward to starting your journey with us in late September/early October 2025!
